In early 2004, MILTECH
built a new manufacturing facility dedicated to the production of
demanding Electrical Harnesses for military aircraft's and special
defense land system.
EUROCOPTER France and EUROCOPTER Germany selected MILTECH for the manufacturing and testing
of all the electrical harnesses and bays.
The NH-90 harnesses undergo
four main phases before the acceptance and delivery of the final
product. Namely:
MRO
Laser cutting & printing Machine,
Main Assembly,
Over
Braiding and
Electrical Test.

MRO Laser Cutting & Printing Machine
The MRO machine responds to
the long-standing needs of aircraft maintenance, repair and
modification centers throughout the world, ensured by the high Laser
printing quality.
The MRO machine guarantees:

A non-aggressive marking
causing no degradation to the cable insulation, conforming to
multi-national aeronautical standards.

A permanent, unalterable
contrast, resistant to solvent rub, light immersion and all other
tests imposed by aircraft and helicopters manufacturers.

Improved productivity and
simplified production removing the need for post-marking treatment
designed to improve the marking presentation and durability.
Furthermore, the MRO Machine with a speed of 60m/min and min cable AWG
26; ensures high quality cutting and printing results for all UV-markable
single core wires and shielded multi-core cables.

Main
Assembly
The assembly line of the
harnesses is set so as to meet all the quality specifications and
high aeronautical demands of a modern production.
Highly trained operators, work on a computer database, which
minimizes the risk of potential low quality products. Four (4)
gauge meter tables ensure the desired length of the specified
harnesses with a tolerance of ±0.5 cm.
Constant quality monitoring from qualified personnel for each individual
assembly step, guarantees high quality products to the customers.

Over-Braiding
Three overbraiding Machines protect the harnesses with copper & textile
braid depending on the diameter of the harness and the desired
density of the braid. The Harnesses subjected to over braiding have
a range of min diameter of 1mm up to 23 mm. Both Textile and Copper
braiding, protect the harnesses and hence the helicopter from
various aggressions; such as EMI, NEMP, EMC, TEMPTSET etc. Two
qualified operators follow the over braiding processes as instructed
in the data base of each machine.

Electrical Test
For each harness a fully automatic electrical test is performed in order
to assure the correctiveness of the product, in respect to the
Aeronautical & Helicopter Test standards.
Each Harness undergoes the following electrical tests:
Continuity Test, ensuring that
all pin-to-pin connections have been made in respect to the
technical specifications.
Voltage Strength Test (1300V DC
or 1000V AC).
Insulation Resistance Measurement
Test, with Voltage measurement 500V DC, 20MΩhm.
A test Report is presented for each test that accompanies the harness
for delivery.
