The Unmanned Vessel “USV KALUGA” with the Electro-Optical Maritime System “MLT-SUR-100RTM” of MILTECH Hellas AE in Dynamic Messenger 22.
On September 30, 2022, the NATO exercise Dynamic Messenger 22, “An OPEX Exercise Designed for the Future”, with the objective of integrating unmanned maritime systems into NATO task forces at sea, was completed.
The exercise, which took place at the Portuguese Naval Operational Experiment Center (CEOM) near Troia, Portugal, involved more than 18 ships, 48 unmanned systems and 1,500 personnel from 16 NATO member nations. The exercise was conducted by Headquarters Maritime Command (HQ MARCOM), under the auspices of NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT).
From the Greek side, MILTECH Hellas AE was actively involved, with the multi-sensor maritime system MLT-SUR-100RTM, installed on the USV KALUGA of the Spanish UTEK, operating from the OPV (P-45) “AUDAZ” vessel of the Spanish Navy.
The MLT-SUR-100RTM EO system provided, in “Real Time”, excellent quality and fidelity imagery, from the theater of operations to the ship’s information and combat center (CIC) obtaining full certification of real operation in a NATO operations environment.
The assistance of the system, in the context of the operations planning, received congratulations and favorable comments from AUDAZ Captain and the observing representatives of the Spanish Naval Headquarters.
The successful outcome of MILTECH’s collaboration with UTEK has sparked the interest of the international community and negotiations have already begun for the production of the system for the benefit of the security forces of a Middle Eastern country.
MILTECH Hellas SA, with many years of experience in the design and manufacture of electro-optical systems for maritime applications, has developed its own auto target detection, target tracking and target classification algorithms, for the special maritime environment.
The development of thermal cores of both uncooled and cooled technology by MILTECH ensures the provision of electro-optical systems for the operational requirements’ optimum satisfaction.
